Eugene F. Dearing, Jr.
Eugene F. Dearing, Jr. age 80, of Winchester, Va. died Thursday, May 16th 2013, peacefully at his residence.
Mr. Dearing was born November 26, 1932, in Winchester, Va, the son of
Eugene F. Dearing, Sr. and Lillian Morris Dearing. He was a graduate of Handley High School 51’, attended Newport News Apprentice School and
Served in the US Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War.
A prominent Virginia business leader, Mr. Dearing was President and Owner of Dearing Beverage Company in Winchester, Virginia for 40-years. Active in national legislation, he served on the Board of Directors and Advisory Commissioner of the National Beer Wholesalers for ten years,
Secretary Treasurer of Virginia Beer Wholesalers Association, he served as State Director of Virginia Jr. Chamber of Commerce, Financial Chairman for the late Delegate Alson H. Smith. Vice Financial Chairman for US Senator Harry Byrd Jr, He served as a member of the Board of Directors of Shenandoah University, Westminster Canterbury, The Belle Grove Plantation and Regional Chairman of Heritage Savings in Loan and Investors Savings in Loan in Winchester, Virginia.
Mr. Dearing was given Shenandoah University’s highest honor, The Shenandoah Medal. Mr. Dearing supports a generous Scholarship Endowment in honor of his father at the University that he established and was a key contributor to the building of Mary M. Henkel Hall.
He was an avid Washington Redskin and Baltimore Orioles fan. He enjoyed a great amount of his time at his favorite vacation home in Ocean Reef in Key Largo, Florida. His favorite pastime was mowing and tending to his farm.
He was preceded in death of his wife of 48years, Mary William Dearing.
Surviving are two sons, EF (Cody) Dearing, III of Winchester and his wife, Vickie, Thomas J. Dearing of La Plata, Md. and wife, Teresa. Two daughters, Cassandra D. Dodson of Powhatan, Va. and Tru D. Lawton of Hartsville, SC. and husband Ed, eight Grand Children and one deceased.
His special friend and companion Virginia Guthridge.
He devoted his life to taking care of his children!
The family will receive friends on Monday from 9:00-10:30 AM, prior to the service, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A memorial Service will be conducted at 10:30 AM on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with the Reverend Jeffrey Witt officiating.
A Private graveside Service will follow at Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
