Esther Virginia Boyd
Esther Virginia Linaburg Boyd, 91, of Stephenson, Virginia, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Boyd was born in March 25, 1919, in Frederick County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Edward Franklin and Carrie Virginia Linaburg. She was a homemaker, and for 65 years with her husband, owned Tip Top Radio & TV, which opened first in Woodstock, moved to Berryville then finally Stephenson. Mrs. Boyd was a member of the American Legion Post 41 Auxiliary was instrumental in starting the first animal shelter in Frederick County, eventually having it named in her honor.
She married Charles Ellsworth Boyd on July 28, 1948, in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with her husband of 62 years, is their daughter, Bette P. Jenkins of Stephenson; three grandchildren, Scott Jenkins, Jeff Jenkins, and Vicki Perez; eight great grandchildren, Ciarra Jenkins, Amber Broy, Tara Jenkins, Lauren Funkhouser, Jeremy, Jillian, Leslie and Jasper Perez; sister, Patsy Lockley of Frederick County; half-sisters, Nancy Strosnider of Stephens City, Jessie Goode of Frederick County; brother, Douglas Linaburg of Winchester; half brothers, Edward Linaburg, of Wardensville, WV and Franklin Linaburg of Frederick County.
She is preceded in death by her half-sisters, Helen Wilkins and Lela Dent, step-sister, Edith Pluck; brothers, Clyde and Delmar Linaburg and half-brothers, Johnnie and James Linaburg.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Mr. David A. Owings and Reverend Michael Mohn officiating. Entombment will be private.
Pallbearers will be Terry Golladay, Max Umbenour, Strother Boyd, Jesse Fleming, Brice Davis and Denny Linaburg.
The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 3:00 -6:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
