Ernest Wright Brindle, Jr, 92, of Frederick County, Virginia, passed away on August 31, 2016 at The Willows of Meadow Branch in Winchester, VA.
Ernie was born in 1924 in Frederick, Maryland, the son of the late Ernest W. Brindle, Sr. and Mary Ruth Brindle. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary B. Eisenhart. Ernie graduated from Gettysburg High school class of 1941. He was awarded a Bachelor’s degree in education from Shippensburg University in 1947 and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1949. He volunteered to serve in the Army Air Corp during World War II. Stationed in England, Ernie was a navigator in a B-24 Liberator with the 8th Air Force. He was a retired financial executive with the Amoco Oil Company.
Ernie was predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years, Mary B. Brindle. Surviving family members are a son, Dr. Jeffrey Brindle and wife Sherri of Watertown, SD and a daughter, Dr. Wendy Brindle of Frederick County, VA. Four grandchildren, Sarah Brindle; David Brindle and wife Brittany; Rachel Kuseske and husband Zackary; Hannah Brindle; and great-granddaughter, Eleanor Mae Brindle, as well as nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winchester. He was an active participant in the Men’s visitation group, adult Sunday school and the Men’s breakfast gatherings.
His family is very grateful for the loving care provided by the staff at The Willows of Meadow Branch.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ernie to the Living Memorial Fund, First Presbyterian Church of Winchester, 116 S. Loudoun St., Winchester, VA 22601 or to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St, Suite 405, Winchester, VA, 22601.
Memorial service will be held on October 7, 2016 at 2:30 PM in the sanctuary at the First Presbyterian Church of Winchester.
Inurnment will be privately held for Mary and Ernest at the Alto-Reste Park Cemetery in Altoona, PA at a later date.
