Ernest L. Sears
Ernest Lee “Ike” Sears, 71, of Middletown, VA, died Friday, April 30, 2010 at his home.
Mr. Sears was born in 1939 in Keyser, WV, the son of Ruth A. Sears and the late W. Raymond Sears. He was a crane operator for Zuckerman’s Scrap Yard, retiring in 2007 after 35 years of service. He was a Protestant by faith, and a member of the National Rifle Association.
He married Arvella M. See on May 9, 1959 in Cumberland, MD.
Surviving with his mother of Arthur, WV, are three daughters, Wilda Strosnider of Winchester, VA, Teresa Gray and her husband, Buddy, of Frederick, County, VA, and Jessie Breeden and her husband, Eddie, of Middletown, VA; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Landes and her husband, Harlan, of Arthur, WV and Barbara Haines and her husband, Roger, of Capon Bridge, WV; and a brother, John Sears and his wife, Wanda, also of Capon Bridge, WV.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Lynn Durbin officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM in Beaver Run Cemetery in Burlington, WV.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Ernie Whetzel, Ervin Whetzel, J.W. Taylor, Charles Meadows, Rodney Twigg and Michael Monk.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 7:00 – 9:00 PM on Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
