Erma L. Boyd
Erma Maxine Lupton Boyd, age 92, of Winchester, Virginia, died Saturday, September 24, 2011, at her residence.
Mrs. Boyd was born in 1919, in West Virginia, the daughter of the late William O. and Ollie B. Lupton. She was a cafeteria employee at Daniel Morgan Middle School until her retirement in 1983. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Winchester and a charter member of the Shenandoah Sams Camping Club.
Her husband, Harry W. “Jack” Boyd, Jr., whom she married on March 6, 1937, in Hagerstown, Maryland, preceded her in death on December 18, 1993.
She is survived by a daughter, Shirley B. Haines of Winchester, Virginia; a son, Ronald L. Boyd, of Winchester, Virginia; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a sister, Nannie B. Jenkins, of Winchester, Virginia.
A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, 11:00 AM, at Mount Hebron Cemetery with Pastor Joan Rainsberger officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. J. Jay Hotchkiss, Carl Thomas, Mark Sutphin, Floyd Griffith, Timmy Barnes, Burl Baker, Gary Robertson, James Lawyer, and her Grandsons.
The family will receive friends at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
