Emitte M. Tucker

Emitte Monroe Tucker, 87, of Winchester, VA died Thursday, May 17, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Tucker was born in 1924 in Stokesbury, WV, the son of the late Carey and Carrie Tucker. He was employed with the Federal Government Corps of Engineers, G.S.A. & F.E.M.A. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and was an avid gardener.

Mr. Tucker was married to Evelyn Maxine Vaughn Tucker, who preceded him in death on June 17, 2000.

Surviving are two daughters, Vicki L. DeHaven and Amy V. Tucker, both of Winchester, VA; six grandchildren, Jeff Griffith, Eric DeHaven, Shawn DeHaven, Nicole Doman, Carrie West and Christian Hazelton, and nine great grandchildren.

Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by two daughters, Gayla T. Smith, and Cynthia A. Tucker, a grandson, Troy DeHaven and 15 sisters and brothers.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Interment at Shenandoah Memorial Park will be private.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
