Elwood H. Fox
Elwood H. Fox passed away peacefully with family by his side on June 23, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Turessa K. Fox for 50 years.
Elwood is survived by four sons; Pete Fox of Elk Grove, California, John Fox of Strasburg, VA, Thomas Polhamus of Casa Grande, AZ, and Charles Polhamus of Fitzgerald, GA. Elwood was blessed with four granddaughters, two grandsons, three great granddaughters, and four great grandsons.
Elwood was the former owner of Foxie’s restaurant in Strasburg, VA. He was a building contractor having built hundreds of homes (including his own) in the area. After retirement, he continued his craftsmanship and was sought after to design and build items such as jewelry chests, lazy susans, and many types of furniture.
Elwood was a devoted Christian and served his church, First Christian, faithfully as both an Elder and Deacon until his illness prevented him from doing so. He was a proud member of the American Legion and National Rifle Association.
To have known Elwood was to have known what it was like to be in the presence of a true gentleman, strong yet compassionate, a provider for his family and friends, a master of his craft with a kind and gentle spirit. All that were lucky enough to have known him and have him in their lives were truly blessed.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, 1260 Front Royal Pike, Winchester VA. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
