My deepest sympathy to the Hinson family. Elton was such a gracious man and certainly helped me as I navigated my first two years of teaching at the Winchester Intermediate School. We not only had to share physical space in the building but the same students. He was always so helpful to me with the lesson planning, handling pre-teen students, and meeting administrative deadlines. I appreciated his gentle manner, knowledge of his content area, and genuine concern that I be successful as well as my students learn. I pray that your friends, family, and faith bring comfort in the days ahead. I feel blessed to have known and worked with Elton. Most sincerely, Sally Hovermale

In Loving Remembrance. This comment page cannot hold the memories of my life with "Uncle Stogie". In my adult life I switched back to His proper name and called him Uncle Elton. Living in Winchester and me living in Tabor City NC did not afford our families a frequent "Sunday "visit. But ... our families did get together at least two times a year. Did we ever celebrate! Uncle Elton and family to see us in the summer...the Dan Sr family to Winchester at Thanksgiving. We were not a hugging and kissing family. But we sent out a constant vibe. WE WERE FAMILY! Uncle Elton would not have had it any other way. There are so many memories that I could "bore" you with about My Uncle Elton. Let me close with this. You were the best Uncle this ol' country boy ever had. Now enjoy the fruits of your labor in Heaven. And tell Daddy (Dan Sr.) and all the family that Jeff and I will carry on until we meet again! Your Nephew Daniel Raeford Hinson
