Elsie B. Ramey

Elsie Virginia Braithwaite Ramey, 92, of Hilltop house of Frederick County, VA, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, in the Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. Ramey was born in 1918, in Winchester, VA, the daughter of the late Clarence W. and Ethel W. Braithwaite. She had worked as an office manager for Shenandoah Memorial Park. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Golden Link Sunday School Class and a graduate of Handley High School.

Her husband, William Boyd Ramey, Sr., whom she married in 1935 in Winchester at First United Methodist Church, preceded her in death on June 13, 2009.

She is survived by a daughter, Margaret R. Johnson, two grandchildren, Mark Alan Stotler, of Frederick County and Rita Jane DeFilippo, and her husband, Michael of Ashburn, Virginia; three great grandchildren, Evan Lee Kees of Stephens City, Virginia, Chloe and Sophia DeFilippo of Ashburn, Virginia; a sister Shirley Farley, and her husband, Lonnie of Baltimore, MD. She was preceded in death by a son, Rev. William B. Ramey, Jr., a granddaughter, Sarah Kees Dellinger, a son-in-law, Jack E. Johnson, as well as three sisters and eight brothers.

A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Rev. William White officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. A reception will follow for family and friends at Omps Funeral Home-South Chapel.
