Elizabeth B. Sulick
Elizabeth Stella Rose Sulick, age 90, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016, in Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Center.
Elizabeth was born in Garfield, New Jersey in 1926. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Aniela L. Burek. Liz was a Salutatorian of her graduating class from Garfield High School in 1943. She also attended two years at Montclair State College of New Jersey. She was employed as a secretary working in various positions with the government throughout the years. Liz was a devoted Roman Catholic and most recently a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who can forever be remembered for her love of faith, family and her generosity. Liz was known for her love of crocheting, slot machines, scratch off lotto tickets, flowers and her truly one of kind sense of humor. She will be will greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In the words of Liz herself, “Love, hugs and kisses to everyone”.
Betty married Chester Charles Sulick on September 25, 1948 in Garfield, New Jersey. He preceded her in death in 2006 after more than 58 years of marriage.
Surviving is a daughter, Janet Spilewski and her husband Mark, of Winchester, Virginia; six grandchildren, Charles A. Hruska, III, of Virginia, Keith R. Hruska of Kentucky, Kara E. Hruska of West Virginia, Kaitlin E. Cannata and her husband Michael, Michael F. Gormley, Jr. and Lindsay L. Gormley all of Massachusetts, and one great grandchild, Riley E. Oden of West Virginia as well as a son-in-law, Michael F. Gormley, Sr. also of Massachusetts.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty is preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Gormley, two sisters, Bertha Burek and Mary Palonis and her brother, Edward Burek.
A private family service will be held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
