Elizabeth P. Boswell
Elizabeth “Libby” Foster Palmer Boswell, 103, of Hayfield, Frederick County, Virginia, died Friday, September 4, 2015, in a local nursing facility.
Mrs. Boswell was born in 1912, in Luray, Virginia, the daughter of the late David L. and Nancy V. Foster. She worked many places throughout her lifetime to include the Winchester Woolen Mill, J. Schoeneman Clothier, Inc, Shenandoah Fruit Company and National Fruit Products. Mrs. Boswell worked well into her 80’s. She was a life-long member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church, serving for many years on the Cemetery Board. Libby was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Capon Bridge, WV. She enjoyed her church, Bible trivia, visiting friends and family, canning, gardening, the outdoors and her pets.
She married John Boswell, who preceded her in death.
Her former husband, Silas Palmer, also preceded her in death.
Surviving is her son, Joseph A. Palmer and his wife, Shirley, of Winchester, daughter-in-law, Blanche Palmer of Winchester; son-in-law, Calvin Loy of Winchester; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Her daughter, Virginia Palmer Loy; son, William Hugh Douglas “Sonny” Palmer; sisters, Lucinda Foster, Leola Foster, Amanda May Redmiles, Sara Anderson and brothers, Rhondal, Robert, Abraham and Asa Foster, preceded her in death.
Per Mrs. Boswell’s request, her remains were cremated. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 12, 2015, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 on Saturday, September 12, 2015, with Reverend Dr. Victor R. Gomez officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church Cemetery.
