Elizabeth G. Allen

Elizabeth Grizzard Allen, age 89, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2010, at her home.

Mrs. Allen was born in 1920, in Greensville County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Jeff D. and Mary C. Grizzard. She was a 1938 graduate of Greensville County High School.

Her husband, Henry V. Allen, Jr., whom she married on September 9, 1939, preceded her in death in 1977.

Surviving are her children, Glenn D. Allen and wife, Brenda of Richmond, Virginia, Elizabeth A. Guy of Kernersville, North Carolina, and Jeannette Christiansen and husband, Jim of Winchester, Virginia; six grandchildren, Griffin D. Allen and wife, Sarah, Tracy J. Allen, M. Scott Martin and wife, Kim, Michele M. Davis and husband, Harry, James E. Christiansen II, Forrest V. Christiansen and wife, Katie; her great grandchildren, Michael T. Martin,Hank L. Allen , Cammie E. Allen , Eddie G. Allen, Allee E. Davis and Whitley S. Davis; one sister, Mary G. Johns of Richmond, Virginia; and one brother, Vernon D. Grizzard and wife, Gaynelle of Rome, Georgia.

Two sisters, Garnet Grizzard and Marjorie G. Tudor and two brothers, Taylor L. Grizzard and Jeff D. Grizzard, Jr. preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday at Monument Heights Baptist Church, 5716 Monument Ave., Richmond, VA with Reverend R. Larry Grizzard officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, Richmond, VA.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 – 11:30 am Friday prior to the service at the church.
