Elizabeth (Liz) Dent Browning, 75, of 831 Buckner Dr., Winchester, died suddenly Wednesday, August 31, 2016.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church to celebrate her life Saturday Sept. 3 at 12pm and a private reception will follow.
Liz was born 1941 in Augusta, GA. She was the daughter of the late John Marshall Dent, Sr. and Novine Elizabeth Holcombe Dent of Waynesboro, GA.
She attended Georgia State College for Women, Milledgeville, GA and graduated from St. Andrews Presbyterian College with a BS in Business Administration in 1963.
She married Edward Parry Browning, III of Winchester, VA on November 28, 1964 in Waynesboro, GA. Her beloved husband died on August 4, 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Browning Boone of Winchester, VA, her son, Edward Parry Browning, IV and wife, Sarah Troup Browning, of Winchester, VA, and her son, John Dent Browning and wife, Jill Mundy Browning, of Nashville, TN. She is survived by 6 grandchildren: Hannah Elizabeth Boone and Madeline Thompson Boone of Boone, NC, Kayla Elizabeth Browning and Alexa Lee Browning of Nashville, TN, Edward Parry Browning, V and Elizabeth Jane Browning of Winchester, VA. Her brother, Dr. John Marshall Dent, Jr. of Tifton, GA is deceased. She is survived by her niece and nephews: Sandra Elizabeth Dent of Santa Kosa, FL, Dr. John Marshall Dent, III of Florence, SC and Dr. Michael Thomas Dent of Naples, FL and Mary Widener Dent Duncan of Naples, FL.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and had served on the boards of Winchester Day Nursery, The Salvation Army, and was a volunteer at Winchester Medical Center and the Handley Archives. She had been a member of The Shenandoah Valley Photographic Society, The Shenandoah Arts Council and was a charter member of “The Sewing Group”. She was also a member of the DAR, Colonial Dames, and Daughters of the Confederacy.
Liz had been an elementary school teacher in Fauquier County, VA and Langley Air Force Base, an Accounts Manager for The Leary Foundation and Business Manager for Drs. Goodloe and DeArment. Upon retirement, Liz became an avid photographer taking beautiful award-winning photos. She cherished her family and many dear friends.
