Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Spencer Thompson, 89, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away Monday, April 15, 2019, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Thompson was born in Grayson County, Virginia in 1929, the daughter of the late Thomas E. Spencer and Martha Poe Spencer. Elizabeth graduated from Fairfax High School, Class of 1947, and the Washington School for Secretaries in 1948. She was a retired Manager of Log Etronics. Mrs. Thompson formerly attended Seventh Day Adventist Church in Winchester, Redland United Methodist Church in Frederick County and the Chapel at The Village at Orchard Ridge.
She married Fred Coleman Thompson on February 2, 1951, in Washington D.C. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1986.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas N. Thompson and wife, Pong, of Fayetteville, Georgia, their sons, John D. Thompson and his children, Kylee and Aiden, Steven P. Fortner and son, Thatcher; and Mark D. Thompson and partner, Laura Rubinich of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
On September 8, 1997, Elizabeth married William Frederick Hamilton in Winchester, Virginia. She is survived by two step-daughters, Barbara Smith and husband, Bob, of Lynchburg, Virginia, their two sons, Aaron (Taylor) and Grayson; Mary Beth Kiernan and husband, Thomas and three children, Daniel, Zach and Caitlin of Chesapeake, Virginia; as well as a daughter in law, Margaret “Maggie” Hamilton of Winchester, Virginia. Also surviving are a sister, Annette Rapier-Salazar and husband, D.J. of Pierson, Florida; and two brothers, Wallace K. Spencer and wife, Emma, of Daytona Beach, Florida and Stanley R. Spencer and wife, Melissa of Broadway, Virginia.
All services with Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, will be private.
Memorial contributions in Elizabeth’s name may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
