Eleanor (Robinson) Skey, 81 of Oak Hill, VA, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023 at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.
Ellie was born in 1942 in Chestertown, MD, the daughter of the late Howard Elmer and Sarah Myrtle Robinson. She was a registered nurse and trained at Bryn Mawr Hospital School of Nursing. After graduation she worked at Bryn Mawr Hospital managing the pediatric nursing program. During her nursing career she has worked for hospitals, a dental surgeon & several private practices. She stopped working for a while to raise her family only returning to work once her children were older. She ended her career at Reston Pediatrics. Ellie loved taking care of people. She loved animals especially cats & ducks. Ellie was active at Vale United Methodist Church, she was active in the Choir, Women’s Group, Bible Study and Book Club. She volunteered for the The Closet of the Greater Herndon Area, Hot Meals for the homeless, and many other organizations. Ellie was also a former Girl Scout Leader.
She is survived by her husband, William Joseph Skey, III whom she married on July 15, 1967 in Exton, PA; daughter, Laura Ann Skey of Stephenson, VA; son, Robert Joseph Skey of Churchville, VA; grandchildren, Sophia Marie Skey of Clifton, VA, Lillian Alexa Skey of Churchville, VA, Adalyn May Parsell of Churchville, VA, Bailey K. McInturff of Churchville, VA, sister, Sue Hertzler of Thomasville, GA and daughter-in-law, Charlotte Skey of Clifton, VA.
Ellie is preceded in death by her son, Thomas William Skey and brother-in-law, Ivan Hertzler.
A service will be held for Ellie on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 2pm held at Vale United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Haugh.
