Elbert D. Austin
Elbert DeLane “Al” Austin, age 65, of Clearbrook, Virginia, died Saturday, September 25, 2010, in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Austin was born in 1944, in Sulphur, Oklahoma, the son of Audrey McCabe of Wilberton, Oklahoma and the late Albert Dee Austin.
Al was employed for the past 21 years as an Operations Specialist Officer for FEMA operating out of Mt. Weather. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, retiring after 26 years of service with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant in the Command and Control Center at March Air Force Base, California. He was a member of Scared Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Winchester, Virginia.
Elbert met Elise Reiff in Luxembourg in 1968 and they married in Fort Walton Beach, Florida on October 9, 1971.
Surviving in addition to his mother and wife are two sons, Samuel E. Austin of Alexandria, Virginia, born in Florida on January 15, 1973, and Thomas Brian Austin, born in Italy on March 4, 1975 and wife, Amy Beth of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Laura Jean Austin and Noah Thomas Austin, both of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania; one sister; four brothers, and extended family in Luxembourg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Friday, 11:00 AM, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Dobbins officiating. Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
