Norman left a message on January 30, 2013:
Al was one of the great individuals I have ever known. My heart and condolences go out to his sweetheart, Elise, and the rest of his extended family. He had a knack of making friends with everyone and helping folks to feel good about themselves. He could build or fix just about anything. I had the privilege of recruiting, interviewing and "hiring" Al to work for FEMA where he subsequently came on board with the Maynard MERS Detachment before moving to the FEMA Operations Center. I feel all the better for having had the opportunity to have known and associated with Al.
