Elaine Margaret Kallay, of Winchester, Virginia, died peacefully in her home on Thursday, March 14, 2013.
Mrs. Kallay was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Michael J. and Margaret K. Suchan. She graduated from Brentwood High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After college, Mrs. Kallay went on to various teaching roles as well as raising her family. She was an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester, where she was passionate about singing in the choir.
Elaine was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others.
Elaine was devoted to her family, and a faithful friend to many; she relished spending time with them all, especially during the holidays. She loved the ocean and spent many a day in relaxation enjoying the serenity of the crashing waves. She was fortunate to live abroad and travel the world when her husband served in the U. S. Army.
Her husband Michael T. Kallay, whom she met in college, preceded her in death on October 10, 2008.
Surviving are two daughters, Laurie Herter and husband, John, of Stuart, Florida and Tracey Hackwith and husband, Devin, of Orlando, Florida, and a son, Michael Kallay, of San Diego, California. Elaine was blessed with four grandchildren: Cameron, Kate, Ella, and Hudson. She is also survived by her loving sister, Jeanne Thomas, of Barnesville, Georgia.
The family will receive friends and family on Friday, March 22nd, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Winchester, Virginia, followed by a Catholic Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. A reception at the church is to follow the mass with interment to be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 130 Keating Drive, Winchester, VA 22601.
