Eithne A. Murtagh

Eithne Anne Fawsitt Murtagh, 80, of Winchester, VA, died Friday, November 4, 2011 at the Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Residential Center.

Mrs. Murtagh was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1931, the daughter of Diarmuid and Catherine Fawsitt. She was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Choir, the PCCW, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Her husband, Dr. John E. Murtagh, whom she married in Dublin, Ireland in 1959, preceded her in death in 2003.

She is survived by three daughters, Catherine Keys and her husband, Anthony, of Eau Claire, WI, Rhoda Murtagh, and her husband, Mark Bayliss and Doreen Murtagh Wilfong and her husband, Phillip, all of Winchester; two sons, Sean Murtagh and his wife Patricia of Dublin, Ireland, and Aidan Murtagh and his wife, Ulrike of British Columbia, Canada and fourteen grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters and seven brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 2:00 PM. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 10, 2011 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. A Rosary will be said at 8:00 PM.
