Eileen S. Lewis, 74 of Winchester, VA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.

Eileen was born in 1950 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late Henry and Elsie Liss. She was a graduate of Pikesville High School, Class of 1968, and then went on to earn her associate’s degree. Eileen retired as a massage therapist for Dr. Loy and Capon Springs Resort. Eileen loved being outdoors and foraging for Morel Mushrooms. She loved to ski and adventure on walks and hikes. She was fond of spending time at the beach and watching the pelicans. Eileen enjoyed cooking and making different kinds of soups. She kept herself busy doing diamond dots, listening to music, and dancing. Most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She married Howard Lewis in 1985, and he preceded her in death in 1995.

Eileen is survived by her daughter, Linsey D. Ridgeway (Charlie), her son, Daniel C. Lewis, and grandchildren, Liam McDonald, Cole McDonald, Jillian McDonald, and Gavin McDonald. She is also survived by her dear friends of 60+ years, known as the “The Groovers,” her close friend Pam H., and many other friends she met on her journey.

Mom, This is so hard to believe you are not with us, I try every day to pick up the phone to call you. I know that you are in all the beauty of nature and the universe. My heart is broken, and I know you told me everything is going to be ok.... I hope you are flying high and watching over all of us! I love you with all of my heart and soul, forever and always..

I am so sorry for your loss. I have so many great memories of her from the office. She was always a ray of sunshine and never in a bad mood. I loved everything that was “Her” she was a sweet and kind soul and I will miss her greatly.

Eileen was an amazing person. Every time I saw her she always made me smile & laugh even at the cold & rainy track meets. She loved her family so much and will be forever loved & missed!

I had the good fortune of calling Groover my friend for almost 65 years, years filled with all good memories. I am so sorry for your loss. I so enjoyed our chat when I ran into your Mom a few months back. My thoughts are with you.

Linsey, Liam, Cole, Jillian, and Gavin—we are thinking of you all and praying for the love of your mom/grandma to be surrounding you. There are no words but we love you all. Remembering her—-all those cross country races from middle school to high school. The running around together to see and cheer for the kids. The laughs and the rowdy calls! I loved talking with her and found her interesting and strong and loving and caring. I miss her and these memories are intertwined with her. We love you all—let God hold you in his arms.

She was an amazing lady! I remember seeing her at all the functions starting all the way back at Indian Hollow. She was a very proud mom & grandmom. She will surely be missed. Lots of hugs.

My dear friend Eileen we had our ups and downs through the years but our love for each other was constant. I will miss you terribly. Some of my fondest memories are of the time we spent in Ocean City. You taught me how to crash a pool or a party or numerous other daring things I would have never done. Say hello to Jeff if you see him.

We knew Eileen as Liam’s grandmother. Liam is our son Nathaniel’s best friend. Eileen was always cheering on Liam, Cole, and the rest of the James Wood High School Cross Country and Track teams. At the meets, she was so proud and supportive. Our families got to know one another very well and became very close. It is with fond memories we will think of Eileen and cherish those days on the Cross Country course or standing by the track. All our love and prayers go to Linsey, Charlie, Liam, Cole, and Jillian

The world lost a beautiful soul on March 6th, 2025. My Nana was truly one of a kind. She was one of the most loving and caring humans on the face of the earth. She would tell me that when I was little, I would cry deep into the night and she would stay up with me to make sure I was okay. I loved her for that. She was there when I was hungry, and I requested that she made her delicious white chicken chili. I loved her for that. I would ask for rides to and from my friend’s houses, and we’d joke that she was my personal chauffeur. I loved her for that. When she would take our family to places we’d never seen because she bought a silly time share a while back. I loved her for that as well. There were a lot of things she loved too. She loved the outdoors, to cook, to clean, to complain, to hunt mushrooms, to see the world, pelicans, Costco, her friends, and her family. She was just a loving person. Eileen Lewis was a part of my life growing up as a child, she played the role as a step grandmother. She was a very sweet,kind and outgoing person. Eileen loved to go on hikes and spend time with her family and grandchildren. She is in a better place now and Is now looking down on all of her family and friends keeping them in good spirits. You will be missed dearly, but not day will go by without you on your loved ones minds. Love you, Nana - Gavin ❤️

Eileen was and will remain so special to our family. The bond she had with my mom her whole life was amazing and I am so lucky to have had a bond with her myself. My most significant memory of her was walking to her house when I was very young and having lunch with her and playing outside for hours. To know her was a blessing, her selflessness and kindness was aspiring and just her presence spoke volumes. We will miss you Groover.

You will be forever missed and allways in my heart and thoughts. You was the best Nana friend and mom that anyone could possibly ask for.This world has truly lost a very special human.I will always cherish and remember everything I have learned from you.Goodbye Eileen I love you beyond this earth. ❤️
