Edward L. Cooper
Edward Lee Cooper, 86, of Westmoreland, NY, died Friday, April 30, 2010, surrounded by his family in New Hartford, NY.
Mr. Cooper was born in 1924 in Winchester, VA, the son of the late Joseph A. and Lula M. Cooper. He was a machinist for Kelsey-Hayes in New York until his retirement. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the Moose Lodge, and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army.
He was married to Marion Louise Blair Cooper, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are six children, Lou Ann Thayer and her husband, Edward, of New York, Donna Marie Dundon of Arizona, Tracy Lee Morrelle of North Carolina, Edward Lee Cooper, Jr. and his wife, Robyn of New York, Daniel James Cooper and his wife, Myoung of New York, and Steven Douglas Cooper and his wife, Starlyn of Oklahoma; three sisters, Hilda Racey and Mary Bucher, both of Winchester, and Pauline Brown of Ferrell, Pennsylvania; three brothers, Frank Cooper of Winchester, VA, Douglas Cooper of Gainesboro, VA and Robert Cooper of Corpus Christi, TX; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and his companion, Gretchen Maxam .
One sister, Georgia Peffer and one brother, William “Buck” Cooper preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend William Withers officiating. Military honors will conducted by VFW Post 2123. Interment will be in Gainesboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
