Edward John Czarny
Edward J. Czarny, 86, of Frederick County died Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Amerisist Assisted Living Facility.
Edward was born in 1929 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Michael A. and Aniela K. Czarny. Prior to retirement he was employed with the U.S. Government, Army Corps of Engineers. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Korean War achieving the rank of Major and he was also the Commander of the 3rd Missle Battalion 71st ADA, BRAVO Battery while stationed in Germany. Ed was a member of Knights of Columbus and a referee and coach for the Blue Ridge Youth Soccer Association. He enjoyed golfing, supported many charities and was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church where he was an active parishioner.
Edward married Marilyn Ann Bolda on January 16, 1971 in Warren, Michigan.
Surviving with his wife are daughters, Barbara A. Ritter, Lisa A. Czarny, and Michelle A. Herbert and husband Matthew; son, Jonathon E. Czarny; grandchildren, Andrew and Sean Ritter, Trae Reed, Kiara Czarny, and Simon Herbert; sisters-in-law, Lenore Langton and Janice Demankowski (Bill); loving nieces and nephews, Christine Principato, Denise Tamm, Andy Czarny, and Mickey Czarny; many great nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas , Steve, and Chuck Czarny; sister, Helen Miller.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 19th, from 6-8 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 120 Keating Drive, Winchester, Virginia. Interment will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Cemetery. A reception will follow at Omps Reception Center, Amherst Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Jonathon Czarny, Matthew Herbert, Andrew Ritter, Trae Reed, Bill Demankowski and Mason Langton.
