Edna Owens Spitler

        Edna Owens Spitler, 87, of Winchester, Virginia, died Friday, July 11, 2014, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. Spitler was born in 1926, in Clarke County, Virginia, the daughter of the later Bernard R. and Martha V. Boyd.

She married Roy E. Spitler on June 23, 1989, in Winchester, Virginia.

Her first husband, Harvey J. Owens, preceded her in death in 1968.

Surviving are three daughters, Betty O. Presley of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Shirley Prosser and Faye Barker both of Winchester; four sons, Bob, Harvey J. Jr. and Thomas Owens all of Berryville, Virginia, and James R. Owens of Winchester; step-daughters, Kimberly D. and Teresa A. Spitler; step-sons, Leroy A. and David E. Spitler; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Hayton.

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Jeff Butcher officiating.  Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.

Pallbearers and Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Spitler’s grandsons.
