Edith R. Clark
Edith Lee Racer Clark, age 90, of Winchester, Virginia, died Saturday, February 20, 2010, in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Clark was born in 1919, in Rappahannock County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Charles Major and Gladys Lee Racer. She was a graduate of Berryville High School, Berryville, Virginia, where she was the Valedictorian of her class. She worked as a Medical Assistant to Dr. Thomas C. Iden, MD, Berryville, Virginia, retiring after 30 years of service. She was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, Berryville, VA.
Her husband, Thomas Stover Clark, whom she married on December 22, 1945 in Berryville, VA, preceded her in death on November 11, 1984.
Surviving are her daughter, Yvonne C. “Bonnie” Shoemaker and husband, James W., Jr., of Stephens City, Virginia; her son, Charles Stover Clark, of Winchester, Virginia; two grandchildren, Kate Michelle Ward and husband, Michael A., and Megan Lee Shoemaker; and two great grandsons, Cameron James Ward and Thomas James Ward.
A sister, Verta Wisecarver Smythe and a brother, Vernon Major Racer, preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Wisecarver, James Racer, Anthony Allegre, Douglas Pitcock, Michael A. Ward, and David A. Ohler.
Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Thomas C. Iden, MD.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Thursday evening at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
