Earnestine Whitacre

                Earnestine Whitacre, 81, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2013, in Winchester Medical Center.

Earnestine was born in 1932 in Montgomery, Alabama, the daughter of the late Richard and Eulia E. McCain.  She was the head of sales in the shoe department of Leggett’s for over 20 years.  She was a member of Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church.

Her husband, Calvin Dutton Whitacre, Sr. preceded her in death on March 7, 2003.

Earnestine is survived by a son, Calvin D. Whitacre, Jr. of Gainesboro, Virginia; daughters, Janet Boyce and husband, Bradley and Debra Sites and husband, Roscoe, all of Stephens City, Virginia, Barbara Hoover and husband, Tim, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Gloria See of Winchester, Virginia; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Cleon Sleby of San Diego, CA, Jacqueline Broughton of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Myra Hatfield, Ollie Dandridge, Barbara Blackmon, Paulette Beasley, all of Montgomery, AL; and two brothers, Richard McCain, Jr. and Steve McCain, both of Montgomery, AL.  She is preceded in death by her daughter, Teresa Edwards.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
