Douglas Kirk Roberts, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday April 7, 2024, at the age of 72 in Winchester, Virginia. Born on June 28, 1951, in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was the son of Dorthy Virginia Bishop Roberts and David Gardner Roberts. Kirk earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and was a Certified Public Accountant. Kirk was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Kirk is survived by his devoted wife, Diane Roberts, and his cherished children: Irene (Jason), Douglas (Cody), and Rachel and his stepdaughter Audrey (Aaron), and stepson Aaron (Megan). He also leaves behind his ex-wife, Jo Ann Martyn, with whom he shared many years of memories. Kirk was a loving grandfather to 13 grandchildren, Joshua, Michael, Benjamin, Issac, Cale, Faye, Tucker, Brooke, Parker, Makenna, Bryce, Corbin, and Alyssa. He was also a caring brother to Craig (Kathi), Jeff, and Mark (Marilyn).
On April 9, 2005, Kirk and Diane were married in the DC Temple, where they began their journey together, spanning nearly 19 years of marriage. Together, they created a blended family filled with love and laughter.
Throughout his life, Kirk embarked on numerous adventures, moving across various states from Utah to Virginia. He anchored his life in the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where his faith remained unwavering. Kirk worked for various organizations throughout his life as a financial expert. Kirk spent much of his time doing missionary work and was involved in the church’s Pathway Program, helping others to obtain higher education.
Kirk was known for his great sense of humor, strong moral compass, and unwavering commitment to his family and religion. He loved spending time on his tractor and was involved in technological advances throughout his life. He was a dedicated and hardworking individual, evident in his financial services career and his Church service.
His legacy is one of love, devotion, and kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will continue to inspire and uplift those whose lives he touched.
