Dorothy White “Dot” Greenawalt, 100, of Winchester, VA passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020, at her home.
Mrs. Greenawalt was born in 1920 in Richmond, VA, daughter of the late Samuel White and Mary Evans; Stepdaughter of the late Harry Evans. She was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and retired from the Health Education Welfare office in Washington, DC after 39 years of service. In her younger years Dot was a pro rollerskater and won many awards. She enjoyed gardening and traveling to the beach at Ocean City, MD. Mrs. Greenawalt was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. She handmade rosaries for the church for 30+ years.
Her husband, Cyrus Markle Greenawalt, whom she married on June 19, 1944 in Richmond, VA preceded her in death in 2005.
Surviving is a daughter, Grace E. Bartholomew (Gene) of Winchester, VA; grandchildren, Gene Charles Bartholomew, Jr. of Cross Junction, VA and Richard Markle Bartholomew (Kristi) of Winchester, VA; five great grandchildren; and three great, great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and her husband, Mrs. Greenawalt was preceded in death by siblings, Viola Earman, Samuel, Ellis, Hugh, and Ralph White.
A visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A graveside service will be at 1 pm on Monday at Mount Hebron Cemetery.
