Dorothy L. Green
Dorothy Lee (Dove) Green, 81, of Stephens City, Virginia died Monday, May 20, 2013 in Prince William Hospital.
Mrs. Green, known as “Sissy” to her family and “Dottie” to her friends, was born in 1932 in Fairfax, Virginia. She was employed at Sears as a retail clerk, retiring in 1981 after more than 20 years of service. She retired to Atlantic Hill, WV with her husband Elwood and after his death she moved to Stephens City where she volunteered at the VA Clinic on Aylor Avenue for five years. She was an avid gardener, crafter and loved her friends.
Her husband, Elwood Dallas Green, whom she married on October 20, 1952, preceded her in death in July, 1994.
Surviving are two daughters, Gloria “Tue” Windell and husband, Gerald Windell of Chesapeake, VA, and Ora “Puggie” Pitts of Manassas, VA; two grandchildren, Michele Stewart of Chesapeake, VA and Michael Pitts of Manassas, VA; three great grandchildren, and a sister, Pearl Varnau of Cross Junction, VA.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, 1260 Front Royal Pike, Winchester, VA 22602
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. A graveside service will be conducted at Nethken Hill Cemetery, Elk Garden, WV on Thursday at 3:00 PM.
