Dorothy Ann Heckelman Stant, 92, of Winchester, VA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at The Willows in Winchester.
Born in Akron, OH, in 1931 to the late Albert and Dorothy Heckelman. Ann proudly served in the United States Air Force as an Airman 2nd Class. Her career led her to Stant Brothers Insurance in Hyattsville, MD, where she met her beloved husband, Sewell Ashton Stant. They united in love on February 19, 1971, until his passing in 1990. A devoted attendee of Saint Michael Anglican Church, Ann also expressed her caring nature as a member of the Moose Lodge and through her 25 years of dedicated volunteer work at Winchester Medical Center. Her generous spirit touched many lives within and beyond these communities.
Ann’s memory is carried on by her son, James Geist (Mona) of Winchester, VA; her grandchildren, Jason Geist (Emily) of Sarver, PA, and Jessica Geist (Seth) of Staunton, VA; and her great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Juliet, and Hazel Geist; as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A visitation will be held for Ann on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 11am to 1pm with a service to be conducted at 1pm, all held at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. She will be laid to rest in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ann to North Mountain Fire and Rescue in Winchester VA.
