Dorothy A. Church

Date of Death: December 16, 2015

On December 16, 2015, Dorothy Ann Smith Church succumbed to complications from Lung Cancer. Dorothy, who was also known as Dottie or Dee, was originally from Gibbstown, NJ. She raised her family in Sterling, VA and most recently resided at Lake Holiday in Cross Junction, VA.

Dorothy was a 1964 graduate of Paulsboro HS and the daughter of the late Larry and Thelma Smith, also from Gibbstown, NJ.

Dorothy is survived by her brother, Larry Smith; her husband, Richard; daughters, Tania and Tara; her son, Travis and seven grandchildren who loved their Nana very much. She will be missed.

There are no plans for a memorial service at this time. We are planning a Celebration of Life to be held in Virginia early next spring.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Winchester Medical Center Cancer Center, 1840 Amherst Street, Winchester, Virginia, 22601 or Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Suite 405, Winchester, Virginia 22601.

DORTHY WAS MY CLASSMATE IN PHS AND MY NEIGHBORO FOR A TIME IN GIBBSTOWN, SHE WAS SUCH A FUNNY AND SMART GIRL, GOT TO TALK TO HER AT THE 50TH REUNION IN 2014. SOOOO GLAD I DID, WILL MISS HER

I remember when Dee was a teachers aide at the C- school where my daughter Lynn went, this was our first time meeting and she made quite the impression on me and my daughter. She was so kind caring and you could tell she loved children. She was a beautiful person and great neighbor as well. She will be greatly missed by everyone that had the honor to know her. Say Hi to my husband Bob up there Dee, he always enjoyed yours and Dicks company. God bless xo
