Dorlando Steven Gale, 48, of Winchester, VA passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at his home.

Dorlando was born in 1971 in Columbus, OH, the only child of George and Kristina Gale. He was a graduate of East Moor High School, Class of 1990 and continued his education at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, earning an Associate’s degree. Dorlando was previously employed as a Deputy Sheriff in Ohio, until moving to Winchester where he worked in retail. In 2010 he was named the Best New Poet of the Year by the American Poet Society. His poetry and music has touched many around the world. Dorlando found the Lord at a very young age and for the past ten years has been a part of Men of Courage, teaching ministries to young people. A loyal and devoted son, uncle, and friend that will be missed.

Surviving with his parents are many loving friends, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by a longtime brother, Toby Johnson.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date in Columbus, Ohio. Arrangements are being handled by Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

I am soooo very sorry my friend. We had reconnected and then the silence of so long. Today I found out and am saddened, shocked and sorry for the loss your family and friends experienced and are still experiencing. Would you believe I still have the birthday card you made for me back in high-school?! I have such fond memories of you and love that you touched the lives of so many. Happy for you that you have gone home to God and all your pain has been lifted. ~Colossians 3:4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Lando was a wonderful person. He found out I was Sherdina Fraley cousin he said was his other mother growing up hanging with her son Ozell. When he was here in Columbus when at work looked out for me. So grateful. Praying strength to his family. Hugs to u all.

My condolences to the family. We grew up together on Rand circle. He would be the 1st one st my birthday party. A adults I still talked about the birthday cake his mom made shaped like a football. He had the best dispositions, energetic spirit, humorous and positive outlooks on life! He will be missed!

I am so very sorry for your loss, there are not enough words. Dorlando was a wonderful person and Wonderful friend. He was like the brother I've always wanted, I will miss him. Prayers for you and your family.

Words can't express the sadness of Dorlando's sudden passing. I'm just so lucky to have had a friend like him for so many years. My memories are all great ones and all of them are special like that huge smile. Rest in peace brother...peace and humptiness for ever!

My condolences to Landos family , I'm glad I had the chance to meet Lando through our journey of life we actually entered the world on the same day and year a small connection Rest on Lando .

R.I.P. Lando I will always cherish all the memories we have. Your a one of kind and will never be forgotten. Thank you for being my brother and Uncle Lan to the kids. Watch over us until we meet again. Love you brother

My thoughts and prayers are with Lando's family and extended family. I worked with Lando at Rally's a couple of years ago or a bit longer. He was a outstanding guy and great person to work with. I was stunned to hear about his passing. Know that each and every one of you are in my thoughts and prayers. May he rest in peace and may you lean on God for comfort and strength.
