Doris V. Dolan
Doris Virginia Brinkman Dolan, 91, of Winchester, Virginia, died Sunday, June 17, 2012, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Dolan was born in Cumberland, Maryland, the daughter of the late Theodore Frederick and Anna Grace Jolley Brinkman. She was a graduate of Fort Hill High School in Cumberland.
A member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Winchester, Mrs. Dolan served as Sunday School Superintendent for 25 years, taught Sunday School, was a member of the Wesley Choir, served on the Administrative Council and was Vice President of United Methodist Women.
For many years, Mrs. Dolan studied the art of painting and left many examples of her work.
She married Ronald Smith Dolan on December 24, 1940 in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with her devoted husband, are two daughters, Deborah Ann Dolan Silvester and husband James, of Stephens City, Nancy Lorraine Dolan Walsh and husband Philip of Winchester; four grandchildren, Adam Walsh of Shreveport, Louisiana, Katherine Silvester of Tucson, Arizona, Jonathan and Nicholas Silvester of Stephens City, Great granddaughter, Madison Silvester of Strasburg; nieces, Mary Jane Bayliss of Winchester, JoAnn Patterson of Frederick County, Dee Dee Brown of Whitacre and Mariah McCarthy of Frederick County; nephews, Frederick and Harold Jacobs of Cumberland, Maryland, Bruce Jacobs of Wiley Ford, West Virginia, Bill Dolan of El Paso, Texas, David Dolan of Stephens City and Ronald Cochran of Bellevue, Nebraska, and great nieces and nephews.
Her sister, Eva Brinkman Jacobs preceded her in death.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 21, 2012 with the Reverend Michael Mayton officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whitacre, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be her three grandsons, Adam Walsh, Jonathan and Nicholas Silvester; and her nephews, Frederick, Harold and Bruce Jacobs.
