Doris Marguerite Zimmer, 88 of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Zimmer was born in 1928 in Canada, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lyla Harding. She was a secretary at Prince Georges County Schools before retiring in 1990. Mrs. Zimmer enjoyed reading, especially her “Gadget” magazines, loved animals, and had a passion for listening to classical music. She was a veteran of the Canadian Navy serving during WWII, where she worked on planes. Mrs. Zimmer was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church, where she volunteered with Bible Study and always looked forward to attending services on Sunday.
Her husband, Wilhelm Karl Zimmer, whom she married on January 21, 1961 in Toronto, Canada preceded her in death on November 8, 2012.
Surviving are daughters, Ursula B. King (Jim) and Lisa R. Shall (Jim); grandchildren, Lori M. Payne, Daryl J. Waddell (Mindy), Ashley R. Zywusko, Benjamin S. Zywusko (Brittany), Emili E. and Zachary P. Zywusko; great grandchildren, Andrew John Moore, Garrett James and Savannah Grace Waddell, and Alex Gene and Emma Lynn Zywusko.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Zimmer was preceded in death by her ten brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at Braddock Street United Methodist Church followed with a funeral service at 1 p.m. with Reverend Kirk Nave officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Virginia.
