My father, Then Captain Major Harold C. Smelser knew the crew of the Suzy-Q of which Orville Writght Kiger was a member and who later maried Doris in my hometown Spokane where she was nursing. Kiger had a distinguished record on his bomber and was respeceted as a lively guy. I don't live far from Sperryville and would be honored to me their descendants and mybe compare war stories. Condolences in your time of sorrow. I am the son of Effie and Gib Streit. I remember Aunt Helen and Uncle "Orb" from the days when when the women I called Grandma (Louise Kiger) kept me at her house on National Avenue, while Mom worked. I also remember Aunt Moogie and Uncle Gib, Aunt Moppie, Linda Kiger, Uncle Frank Kiger, Frank and Helen Smith and Annie. What a beautiful family. It is ironic that Aunt Helen and my mother should pass in the same year. I pray for you during your time of loss and hope to remain in touch with the family.
