Doris Evelyn Burke, 93, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at the Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Burke was born in 1924 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Anna and David Cochran. She was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force. Mrs. Burke was a homemaker, an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed planning and having huge parties in her home quite often. She was an excellent artist who enjoyed painting and drawing, taking walks on the beach where she would gather “goodies” from the sea to make lovely and fun pieces of art. Mrs. Burke loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.
Her husband, James Henry Burke, preceded her in death on May 5, 1998.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Branch and her husband, James, Susan Torres and her husband, John; her son, Curtis Burke; grandchildren, Christopher Branch (Lori), Amy Rice (Keith), Carrie Silva (Joe), Jimmy Burke (Jessica), Gary Kester, and Keith Kester; great grandchildren, Brandon, Katie, Tyler, Joey, Jessica, Janie, Brandon, McKenzie (Jeremy), Ashton, Kyle and Kaylie; great, great grandchildren, Parker, Briella and Reid; sister, Sara Adkins and brother, Henry Cochran (Mildred) as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
One sister, Betty Roberts and three brothers, Davie Cochran, Jimmy Cochran and Bobby Cochran preceded her in death.
All services with Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel will be private.
