Doreen E. Hiett, 91, Frederick County, Virginia passed away Monday, June 11, 2018, at Lynn Care Center in Front Royal, Virginia.
Mrs. Hiett was born in 1926, the daughter of the late Ethel Hill, and raised in Sidmouth, Devon, England by her grandparents, the late Albion and Ethel Hill. She was a Quality Control Inspector at Crown Cork and Seal, from where she retired. Mrs. Hiett was a founding member of College Park Church of Christ in Winchester, Virginia and co-founder of Tri State Christian Service Camp and also volunteered her services there until the age of 91. She was also a member of Transatlantic Brides and Parents Association (TBPA). A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who loved her family, friends and the Lord.
Her husband, Elmus Rodgers Hiett, whom she married on June 24, 1944 in Sidmouth, Devon, England, preceded her in death in October of 1996.
Surviving are sons; Rodger Hiett (Patsy) of Winchester, Virginia; Robert Hiett (JoAnn) of Front Royal, Virginia; David Hiett (Debbie) of Atkinson, New Hampshire and daughters, Deborah Colvin (John) of Winchester, Virginia and Karen McGraw (Casey) of Front Royal, Virginia. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, as well as more than 40 step-grandchildren. Two grandchildren preceded her in death.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 am on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Evg. James McDaniel officiating. Pallbearers will be grandchildren. Interment will be at 2 pm at Woodrow Cemetery, Paw Paw, West Virginia with Pastor Mike Moulden officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Sean Hiett, Steve Hiett, Johnny Colvin, Jr., Josalyn Sisk, Derek Hiett, and Amber Hiett. Honorary pallbearer will be Robert Hiett, Jr.
