Donna “Donnie” Marie Ford, 76, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Warren Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Ford was born in 1941 in Richmond, Indiana, the daughter of the late Donald and Mary Pass. She was a graduate of Hagerstown High School in Indiana; a graduate of Manchester College in North Manchester, Indiana earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English; and a graduate of Earlham School of Religion in Richmond, Indiana earning a Master of Arts degree in Religion. Mrs. Ford was a social worker who was very passionate about her work with the Child Welfare Department in Indiana and volunteered for Birthright. She loved horseback riding, tending to her flowers; loved her cats and dogs, was an avid bird watcher and a voracious reader. A caring wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be missed by her family and the people that she helped through the years.
Mrs. Ford married Peter W. Ford on October 30, 1965 in Hagerstown, Indiana.
Surviving with her husband are daughters, Lara Braithwaite (Harry) of Winchester, Virginia and Julia Pugh (Rusty) of Winchester, Virginia; son, Eric Ford (Gail) of Capon Bridge, West Virginia; grandchildren, Cassidy and Spencer Braithwaite and Joshua A. Ford and Jacob Pugh; brother, Darryl Pass (Sandra); sisters, Margaret “Peggy” McKinnon (Mark) and Marcia “Penny” Liebert (Michael).
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Hopewell Centre Friends Meeting (Quaker), 604 Hopewell Road, Clear Brook, Virginia. Interment will be at a later date in Cool Springs Natural Cemetery at Holy Cross Abbey, Berryville, Virginia.
