Donald R. Browning
Donald Ray “Don” Browning, 74, of Winchester, died Saturday, August 7, 2010, in the Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center.
Mr. Browning was born in 1935, in Washington, DC, the son of Harold Furr and Alice Rose Baird. He was a technical repairman with the Fairfax County Government, having retired in July 2009. He was a member of the bluegrass band, The Hogue Creek String Band and played rhythm guitar at various senior centers, charitable events and jam sessions throughout the Valley.
He married Margie Wheeler on August 9, 1983 in Fairfax, VA. He was previously married to Mary Margaret Seymour Browning Barbeau.
Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Mary Ann Farrulla, and her husband, Carlos, of Alexandria, VA, Debra Lynn Kiser, and her husband, David, of Alexandria, VA, and Barbara Alice Mariani, and her husband, Ezio, of Raleigh, NC; three grandchildren, Sophia Farrulla and Zachary Kiser, both of Alexandria, VA and Marcello Mariani of Raleigh, NC; and a sister, Faye Murray, and her husband, James of Rocky Ridge, MD. He was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Hash and a brother, Harold Clayton Furr.
A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Glenn Welsh officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, 2:00 PM, in National Memorial Park in Falls Church, VA. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 9, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
