Donald L. “Donnie” Lake
Donald Louis “Donnie” Lake, 70, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Monday, November 11, 2012, in Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center.
Mr. Lake was born in 1942, in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late Maurice and Juanita Lake. He was a member of Highland Memorial Presbyterian Church. Donnie was an enthusiastic individual who had a passion for life. He had a love of all genres of music from classical to rock. He was known for his artistic craft of weaving, where he was accomplished in making linen napkins, placemats, and towels. He was an avid sports fan of all kinds but had a great love for the Baltimore Ravens. Donnie was a faithful and loving brother and friend to many, who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are three sisters, Deborah Rudolph and husband, Esten, of Stephenson, Virginia, Sarah Nix and husband, Bill, of Winter Springs, Florida, Kathleen Lake Knight Sommer and husband, Philip, of Stephens City, and one brother, David Lake, of Winchester.
One brother, Wayne Lake, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, at 2:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with The Reverend Dr. Kitty Hahn-Campanella officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
