Donald Lee Popkins
Donald Lee Popkins, 69, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Thursday, January 12, 2012, in Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center.
Mr. Popkins was born in 1942, in Bluemont, Virginia, the son of Harry S. Popkins and the late Stella Mae Popkins. He was a Quality Control Manager with Chem-Pac, Inc. in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Mr. Popkins was a member of Victory Church and received a chemistry degree from Lord Fairfax College. Don was an avid sportsman and enthusiast he had a love for hunting and fishing as well as bowling. However his real true passion was his garden. Don was also an active member of the Izaak Walton League.
He married Anna B. Ketterman on December 29, 1971, in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife, and his father, are four daughters, Sharon Daniels and her husband, Jason, of Linden, Virginia, Sandra Rowe and husband, Robert, of Florida, Susan Baker and husband, Bobby, of Salem, Virginia, Sherry Coffin and husband, David, of Winchester; two sons, Pete Boyce and wife, Marilyn, of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, Bradley Boyce and wife, Janet, of Winchester, 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; three brothers, Preston Popkins of Aldie, Virginia, Bobby Popkins and wife, Carol, of Front Royal, Virginia and Douglas Popkins of Harrisonburg, Virginia.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday at Omps Funeral home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor David Consolo officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Ray Michaell, Randy Duane, Denny Booker, Buddy Swain, Bill Painter, and Carl Hammon.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 1:00-3:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
