Donald Lee Chapman, 66 of Winchester, Va, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026, following his battle with cancer.

Donnie was born in 1959 in Winchester, VA the son of the late Virginia (Whirley) and William Chapman. He spent his formative years and through high school with his sister, Evelyn Proffitt and his now late brother-in-law, Pastor Eugene Proffitt in Arlington, VA.

Donnie completed an apprentice program through O’Sullivan, learning the essential skills of an industrial mechanic, which he perfected throughout his career. He spent years working at various manufacturers in the Winchester area. He became owner/operator of his trucking company, DDI Transportation and retired after 20 years from Loudoun County Parks & Recreation as maintenance coordinator.

Donnie enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, hunting, and tinkering in his shed. He was a member of Callao Moose Lodge #917.

Donnie married the love of his life, Janet (Longerbeam) Chapman on April 8, 2000, in Winchester.

He is survived by his wife; six children, Chastity Scott and her husband, Michael, Donny Chapman, Jennifer Taylor and her husband, William, Travis Williams and his wife, Autumn, Samantha Derflinger and her husband, Craig, and Emily Williams; two sisters, Barbara, and Evelyn and nine grandchildren.

Donnie is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Edward, Allen, Bill, Ruth, and June and 2 grandsons.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026 at 11am with a service to be held at 12pm held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
