Donald G. Mickelson

Donald George Mickelson, 69, of Stephens City, Virginia died Thursday, July 5, 2012 in the Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Mickelson was born in 1943 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of the late Donald and Ruth Mickelson. He was a graduate of Clinton Community College, and a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a Technical Supervisor for the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority until his retirement in 2004.

Mr. Mickelson married Annette Wittrock Mickelson on August 30, 1963 in Wheatland, Iowa. Mrs. Mickelson preceded her husband in death in 2006.

Surviving is a son, Troy Mickelson and wife, Wendy, of Winchester, VA; a daughter, Kecia Mickelson of Stephens City, VA; a grandson, Cody Mickelson, a sister and four brothers.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Jeff Butcher officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park. Military Honors will be afforded by V.F.W. Post 2123.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

We became friends in about 1974.We hit it off immediately.We Drag Raced 2 cars together.(1964 chevelle wagon-1965 impala SS) You taught me much about what I know about electricty! When you moved with your family,I know we weren't able to stay in touch quit as often,but I have many good memorys of our days in DeWitt! You Will Be Missed!!!!!!!!!!!! Greg Anderson
