Dennis K. Carpenter, 73 of Winchester VA, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at his home.

Dennis was born in 1951 in Winchester, VA, the son of the late Nelson and Margaret Carpenter. He was a high school graduate who went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Large Animal Sciences from Virginia Tech. Dennis was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving at the air station in Norfolk, VA. He worked as Senior Policy Analyst for the Farm Credit Administration. Dennis was an avid civil war buff and an amazing father.

He married Frances “Fran” Miller on October 2, 1982, in Frederick Couty, VA and she preceded him in death on February 23, 2024.

Dennis is survived by his son Christopher Reason; grandchildren, Ashley, Collin and Charlotte Reason; sister, Donna and his brother, Bob. Dennis will be missed by his friends and family including Anke Schuettoff-Reason.

A memorial service will be held for Dennis on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 11am at Shenandoah Memorial Park Chapel.

Dennis and I were friends for almost 69 years. We became friends in first grade. We all through school together. He was my best man and I was his in our weddings. We went on vacations together. Even though we drifted apart with work and our lives. We still stayed in touch wiht each other. Unfortunately our wivies passed away about two months apart. We were then able to comfort each other in our grief. I was very fortunate to able to spend some quality time with my best friend duriing the last year for which I am very grateful. I will miss him greatly. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.
