Dennis James Combs of Winchester, Virginia, died on January 21, 2024, at Inova Specialty Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia, after a lengthy illness. Dennis was the son of the late Lloyd L. Combs, Sr., and Irene H. (Ratliff) Combs.
Dennis was a master car mechanic. He made many friends through car repairs. Family called upon him many times to diagnose automotive troubles and ask for his assistance in repairs. His nieces and nephews loved Uncle Dennis dearly. He was the best brother ever. One of his greatest joys was being around family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Lloyd L. Combs, Jr.; brother-in-law, Jimmy Atkins; sisters-in-law, Debbie Combs and Kimberly Combs; nephews, Joshua Atkins and Jimmy Grimes.
He is survived by sisters, Mary Atkins and Vallorie Lockhart of Winchester, Virginia, and Jane Savage (Dave) of Thurmont, Maryland; sister-in-law, Betty Combs of Martinsburg, West Virginia; and brothers, Richard Combs of Martinsburg, West Virginia, and Lynn Combs of Thurmont, Maryland. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 12pm with a memorial service to follow at 1pm, held at Omps Funeral Home, 1600 Amherst Street, Winchester, Virginia 22601. Officiating will be Pastor Nate Emery.
