Deborah Lynn Seal Cheney was welcomed home to her Lord and Savior on September 19, 2026, at the age of 69. She was born in Osaka, Japan on June 19, 1957, to Leslie Allen Seal and Susan Hiroko Seal. In 1977 Debbie met the love of her life Marc Cheney and the two were married in 1978. They spent the first few years of marriage in various places before settling in the Winchester area that they have called home for over 40 years.

Debbie was a devoted wife to Marc, serving alongside him in his evangelical preaching and music ministry as well as their church community when Marc pastored at Trinity Baptist Church in Winchester. Debbie loved children and was a faithful worker in the nursery. That love of children and young people led Debbie to one of her greatest mission fields, the classroom. She was a devoted teacher for forty-seven years. Within the walls of those classrooms Debbie not only taught math but molded and loved young people while sharing and modeling the Gospel. Countless students of hers have shared how Mrs. Cheney was their favorite teacher and how she would often pray for them. Debbie leaves a beautiful legacy of loving others with the love of Christ.
Matthew 11: 28-30 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Debbie was predeceased by her parents, Les and Sue Seal and her in-loves Gerald and Judy Cheney. She is survived by her husband Marc, her sister Diana (DeeDee) Smith and husband John of Phoenix, AZ, brothers-in-love Steven Cheney and wife Diane of Zanesville, OH, Jonathan Cheney and wife Michelle of Bossier City, LA, and sister-in-love Shelley Cheney Camp and husband Randy of Stamps, AR. Debbie was a loving aunt to John, Julie, Heidi, Jeremy, Josh, Jodi, Savannah, Lauren, Mandy and Garrett and their spouses as well as a host of great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, September 25, 2026, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 at Shenandoah Valley Baptist Church.
There will be a private interment for the family to be held at a later date.
