Dawn Y. Schaff
Dawn Yvonne (Keckler) Schaff, age 74, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Schaff was born in 1940 in Hagerstown, Maryland, the daughter of the late Roy Bennard and Janice Virginia Keckler. Dawn was a dedicated teacher’s aide at Daniel Morgan Middle School for 30 years where she enjoyed working with the children. In her spare time she worked and volunteered with the Special Olympics. Dawn will be forever remembered for her love of softball, bowling, and her passion for the Baltimore Orioles and Dallas Cowboys. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to so many and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Dawn married Gene B. “Ted” Schaff who preceded her in death on February 26, 2009.
Dawn is survived by her daughter, Teresa Yost and husband, Mark Allen, of Romney, WVA; two sons, Eric Schaff and wife, Janice, of Winchester, VA and David Curtis of Winchester, VA; three grandchildren; Christopher, Mark Allen and Shannon, two great grandchildren; Blake and Keely and a brother Dennis Ridgley of Chambersburg, PA.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening following the visitation at Omps, Amherst Chapel with Funeral Celebrant Joseph R. Dilleree officiating. Interment will be private.
