David Strenko, 54, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Care Center surrounded by his wife and loved ones.
Dave was born in 1963 in Berea, Ohio, the son of Dolores Strenko and the late Joseph Strenko. He attended Northrop College and was an Aircraft Mechanic, retiring from United Airlines. Dave enjoyed remote controlled airplanes, riding motorcycles, golfing, and farming. He was a member of the Teamsters and Izaak Walton League, where he enjoyed going to the shooting range. Dave was of the Catholic faith.
Dave married Mary McGlone on October 23, 2017 in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his life partner/wife is a sister, Karen Landi of Illinois and a brother, Michael E. Strenko (Barbara) of Ohio; nephews, Nicholas, Michael, and Tony (godson) Landi; niece, Tiffany Burks; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Frances McGlone; brother-in-law, Sean McGlone; and fur babies, Lizzie and Max.
Dave was preceded in death by his father and fur baby, Ireland.
A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Dirt Farm Brewing, Bluemont, VA .
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Dave may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Suite 405, Winchester, Virginia 22601.

I have know Dave for many years and have found memories of our days crow hunting. Dave was always their for you or anyone you knew needed help. I will miss Dave as all of us will.

It was always a pleasure to work with Dave, the day went smoother. Lots of great memories, and stories he would tell. I really miss the friends I made at IAD and Dave, was high on the list. Need a ride home Dave? No problem, he was there for you. Need a hand Dave? No problem, he was there for you. Thank you, for your friendship and memories. RIP Dave.

Dave was an awesome childhood friend. Only got to see him occasionally in Johnstown and a few times in Olmsted Falls. I always looked forward to seeing him. He was a great friend and always had a smile. My prayers for healing are with his family.

Rest in Peace, my friend. Nothing but fond memories.

So sorry to hear of Dave's passing, The last time I saw him was at Robert Sigels services. We hunted together in Dott Pa and he will be missed there. Rest in peace in the Lord's hands

Dave will greatly be missed. In the short amount of time that I knew him, I realized what a great person he was. Always ready to give out some good advice and jump right in to help out as needed. May he rest in peace. Condolences to his family.

I spent too few wonderful afternoons with my friend Dave at our remote control flying field in Glengary. We spoke privately about his courageous battle with cancer as the terrible affliction affects my immediate family too. Dave’s positive attitude and optimism was an inspiration to me. I believe that he knew he was losing the battle, yet he comforted me and that speaks much about the sort of man Dave was. I will miss him.

I am sad to know of David's passing. I've known him for many years through work and friendship. He was always willing to help with whatever was needed, inviting to his home and garage. There was always a cold beverage if you needed one. He was generous and kind. My thoughts and prayers are with you and family.

It was my pleasure to get to know Dave at our model airplane flying field in Glengary. Dave was an excellent pilot and friend. The way he dealt with his cancer was an inspiration to all of us in the club. He remained upbeat and optimistic as he fought the cancer. We greatly admired him for his courage and optimism. He made it clear that he wanted to do his favorite things as long as he could. He never exhibited any self pity or pessimism. He was truly an inspiration to all of us.

When I worked the same shift with Dave and I ran into a work related problem the first thing I would say is Dave Strenko in today,The aircraft knowledge and true professionalism will be missed.My prayers to his family in this sad time.

Times like these words fail. Worked with Dave for the last 26 yrs. My heart is broken at the turn of events. I wish his wife and all members of the family strength in the difficult days ahead. May he rest in peace.

Dave was like another son to my parents. For years, he came to their farm for hunting, but always had time to fix things and help out with whatever was needed. He also was a special Uncle to my girls helping them make a hayman each year on the farm and just enjoying time laughing with them. We will all miss him a lot. Mary, you are very special to us too. To Dolly, Mike and Barb and Karen and kids, we are so sorry for this loss. Sending you all hugs and prayers today and in the days to come.

My wife was Ann Marie Strenko, a sister to David's father Joe Strenko. Ann Marie and I both worked in DC when we met. She worked for the CIA and I was in the Army in the 71ST AAA Missle Bn. I got to share Dave's interest in long range rifle shooting. He was good and knowledgeable at that sport. I am very sorry to learn of his passing. God love all his family. Ray Sarchet
