David Michael Sterner

David Michael Sterner, age 37, of Winchester, died Friday, July 16, 2010, at his residence.

Mr. Sterner was born in 1972, in Leesburg, Virginia, the son of William Eugene Sterner and Linda Ann Bucher. He was employed as a machine operator at Corrugated Container. He was of the Methodist faith.

He married Sharon Largent on December 16, 2006, in Winchester, Virginia.

Surviving in addition to his parents and wife, are his step father, Jack L. Bucher; a step daughter, Cassie A. Hockman; a step son, Cole Lee Hockman; and a brother, Henry Linwood Sterner of Ohio.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Reverend Anthony Wadsworth officiating. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 1:00 until 3:00 PM, prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family, c/o Sharon Sterner, 2216 Harrison Street, Winchester, VA 22601.

Linda, I am so sorry for your loss. Today my mom sent me a text message letting me know my sister, Becky, saw this in the paper. It is just a reminder to me how precious life is and to enjoy every minute with the ones you love. It saddens me to think that we were such good friends in school and then lost track of each other. I have many fond memories of Mike and he was one of the people that made me enjoy going to school! I remembered thinking this morning as I explained to my wife our past, ya know I wore a lot of Mike's cloths. I was very fortunate to be two years younger and was the recipient of most of his hand-me-downs.
