David Lee Reid Sr., 71, of Charlestown, WV passed away March 19, 2025, at the Jefferson Medical Center in Ranson, WV. He was born September 19, 1953, in Loudoun County, VA the son of the late Charles Reid Sr. and Nellie (Trussell) Reid.
David worked as a forklift operator for O’Sullivan Company as well as National Fruit in Winchester where he would eventually retire from and was currently employed by Valley Health in Winchester in their Environmental Services Department.
He was a long-standing member of the Winchester Eagles as well as a former member of the Winchester Weightlifting Association. David enjoyed doing “private landscaping” for his friends and neighbors, umpiring and playing for the Frederick County Parks and Rec Adult Softball League and was an avid Washington Redskins and New York Yankees fan. Above all else he enjoyed watching all his grandchildren play their respective sports or any other activities they were involved with.
In addition to his parents, David was also preceded in death by his three brothers Howard “Brother” Reid, Jimmy Reid and Roger Reid and brother-in-law, Dave Pumphrey.
He is survived by his daughters Juanita Powell (Wayne Smith) and Summer Mills (Chris); his son David Reid Jr. (Jodee); grandchildren Travis Viands, Charlotte Viands, Lauren Reid, Jordan Reid, Ashton Reid, Devin Reid, Harrison Mills and Vayda Mills; great grandchildren Makai Hartley and Roman Lawson; sisters Nellie “Sis” Pumphrey, Betty “Mezie” Lanham, Nancy Blankenship and Peggy Robinson; his brother Charles “Puddin” Reid and also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Wednesday April 2 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Omps Funeral Home, 1600 Amherst St., Winchester, VA. Interment will be private at Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery, White Post.
