David Lee Hogan, Sr. 68, of Frederick County, Virginia died Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Envoy of Winchester surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Mr. Hogan was born July 16, 1948 in Alexandria, Virginia, the son of the late Louis and Ella Hogan. He was a construction worker and a farm laborer until his retirement in 2010. David carried many nicknames in his life, “Dadoe”, “Babe”, and “Neff” were just a few, but Dad and Grandpa were his favorites. He was a beloved family man.
Mr. Hogan married Katherine Ann Hill on July 20, 1973 in Middleburg, Virginia.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years; sons, David E. Hogan, Jr. and wife, Melissa and Jeffrey L. Hogan and significant other, Kristy Fouch; grandchildren, Laura K. Hogan, Kaylee J. Hogan, David “Trey” Hogan, III, and Justin N. Hogan; stepdaughter, Tracey Hogan; sisters, Phyllis Hogan (Erk), Annie M. Garcia (Rick), Shirley Nickens (Bobby); brothers, Dewey “Big Daddy” Hogan, Sr. (Margaret), Alfred Hogan (Mary); and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hogan was preceded in death by sisters, Mary F. “Sissy” Stewart, Betty R. “Boy” Hogan, and Stella “Maeda Duck” Lopez; and brothers, Benjamin “Eagle” Hogan and Carlisle Hogan.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to dear friends, Mary and Zach Canady for all their love and support throughout the years. Also, the family would like to thank the staff at Envoy of Winchester for their compassionate care given to David, especially Michelle Finley.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 12 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Mincey officiating. Interment will be private.
