David Larry Racey, 74 passed away peacefully June 2, 2020 at his home in Huntsville, Alabama surrounded by his family. He was born November 27, 1945 in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late Frisby Castle and Edna Dolphin Racey.
A 1965 graduate of John Handley High School, David went on to become Operations Manager of Preston I. Moffett Distributors, Inc. until he retired in 2009.
In 1970, David married the love of his life, Barbara Flowers Racey who preceded him in death in 2014. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Noel Rodgers of Winchester.
David is survived by two children, Whitney Racey, of Winchester, Virginia and David J. Racey and his wife, Sarah M. Racey of Huntsville, Alabama. He was blessed with three grandchildren, Courtney Coleman of Orlando, Florida, Kaitlyn Racey and Andrew Racey of Huntsville, Alabama.
David is remembered as a generous, loving husband, father and grandfather. He was always the life of the party, an ACC/SEC football fan, loved race cars and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was a life member of the Winchester Royal Order of the Moose Lodge.
Family will receive friends at Omps Funeral Home on Amherst Street, June 22nd, 2020 from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery in a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA in David’s name.
